Ignore the 30 FPS, DivX likes it when you only use 30FPS. The actual FPS it runs at for me is 200FPS and it is a very smooth animation. The map I used was really rp_downtown_v2. I did not modify it or change the bsp in any way. It is possible to replace textures in real time through Lua, so that’s what I did.

Inventory VGUI with Photoshop. Looking good…

” [YourNameHere]: Look for one freaking Lua anything that’s anywhere near this cool?”

Hello again :)

Today I decided to start working on the VGUI elements for Syn, and I think it turned out pretty well. It’s going to end up being that each item is going to have many properties, so I decided it was about time I made an info card for every item. So far, I’ve created the background for the infocard, and I’ve begun working on the model viewer. The model viewer was tricky because the camera positions have to be dynamic based upon how large the object is. I’m also thinking about making this into Synergy’s main theme. In the long run, I got it working pretty nicely. So far so good ;)

Obvious Bioshock Reference in Borderlands is Obvious

“That poor robot appears to be damaged. WOULD YOU KINDLY look around for something to help him?”

Today I acquired heaven with a side of cell shading. I think you know what I mean when I say, Borderlands. But apart from that, one of my favorite games has an explicit use of cell shading, so I can’t complain. I absolutely love Borderlands despite that I’ve only been playing it for about three hours. I’m serious when I say I cannot think of a cooler HUD system than the one in Borderlands. The minimalistic, cartoonie design fits right in place with the game, and it adds an awesome look to boot. If you haven’t seen any reviews or stories about Borderlands yet, you must be living in cave off the coast of Guatemala. The proof is everywhere that it’s a good game, but it only ended up with a Metascore of a 84. Don’t get me wrong, a 84 is definitely a good Metascore, considering the number of reviews put in, but I wouldn’t give it a B. It’s a great game with a great design and awesome FPS gameplay. What’s not to like about it? Though I don’t see it hitting the ranks of Bioshock or anything similar, if I were to rate it, I’d give it a 93 or so, a good solid A. So, what do you think of it? Do you think it deserves an 84? Feel free to comment ;)

SynergyRP Thus Far – Video

“A video says 86 million bytes of words”

This is me showing off what I’ve gotten done so far on the framework of SynRP.

In this video I display my work on the Hands SWep. It really is quite unexciting until you get into the real RP server. Then you realize that the Hands SWep is about the perfect balance between the physgun and gravity gun, in terms of manipulating objects and otherwise. This is only for moving props and such, as the construction will take place with a variety of different weapons tools that will each serve a purpose i.e. Nail SWep, Weld SWep, Rope SWep, etc. Also in the end of this video you can see the magics of gm_console ;) I’ve added a fully functional debugging system with special color highlights. You can also see a glimpse of the framework driving SynRP at its current stage. So far, I’m very happy with the results :D

Synergy Roleplay So Far

“Looks like it’s all uphill from here”

Well here it is, the current status of my gamemode. Right now, there is nothing particularly interesting from a player standpoint, but the framework and backend is coming along very nicely. I’ve also began to look for some people who would like to join this project ;)
